Donald Trump’s new chairman of the FCC (Federal Communications Commission), Ajit Pai, is aggressively moving to roll back consumer protection regulations of the Obama administration. Republicans have long wanted to remove FCC’s net neutrality rules, and despite contradictory statements from the past, Donald Trump seems to be sticking to the same line. Without laws concerning net neutrality telecompanies would be able to charge customers for some data usage while exempting other sites or apps. This would give some internet sites an advantage, and critics argue that telecompanies will be able to choose the ‘winners and loosers of the internet’.
